VS Hydro (subsidiary of Sri Lanka's Vidya Silpa, est. 1972) moved into East Africa in 2007, beginning with an 18 MW hydro project in Uganda. VS Hydro Africa Ltd (Mauritius holding company) owns SPVs for development, EPC and investment. The company brings Sri Lankan small hydro expertise to East Africa and increasingly co-invests in its own assets.
