Project Developer / IPP · United Kingdom
Lekela Power was established in 2015 as a joint venture between Actis (60%) and Mainstream Renewable Power (40%), becoming Africa's largest pure-play renewable energy IPP with over 1 GW of operational wind capacity. In March 2023, Infinity Power – a JV between Egypt's Infinity and UAE's Masdar, backed by Africa Finance Corporation and EBRD – completed the acquisition of 100% of Lekela for approximately US$1.5 billion (Africa's largest renewables deal). Lekela's portfolio includes five wind farms in South Africa (624 MW total), one in Egypt (252 MW, West Bakr/Jabal al-Zeit), and one in Senegal (159 MW, Taiba N'Diaye).
