Azura Power Holdings is the holding company for the 461 MW Azura-Edo IPP in Benin City, Nigeria — one of West Africa's largest and most significant privately financed power projects. Backed by Amaya Capital, the project reached financial close in December 2015 with debt from 15 international banks across 9 countries, totalling approximately US$876 million. The plant achieved commercial operations in May 2018 and sells power to the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) under a 20-year PPA. As of 2024, Azura-Edo is fully operational and generating approximately 461 MW for the Nigerian grid.
