J. Stanley-Owusu & Company Limited was incorporated in 1970 as a privately owned Ghanaian civil engineering company, originally operating as J. Stanley-Owusu Contract Works since 1961. The company diversified across several sectors of the Ghanaian economy and is a pioneer in waste management services, collecting and disposing of refuse in communities across Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi. In its energy dimension, JSO has been pursuing waste-to-energy projects, including biogas plants in partnership with a Swedish firm, with proposed facilities in Accra and Kumasi expected to contribute several megawatts to the national grid.
