1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of energiafrica.com and all associated services (collectively, the "Platform"), operated by Energi Africa ("we", "us"). By visiting the Platform, subscribing to our newsletter, registering a company listing, submitting content, or otherwise using our services, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms.

2. Our services

Energi Africa provides:

A daily news and analysis platform covering energy, power and infrastructure across Africa
A weekly email newsletter — The Africa Energy Weekly
A searchable company directory of energy businesses operating in Africa
An events calendar listing industry conferences, summits and webinars
Press release publication services for verified directory members

3. Accounts and registration

To list your company in the directory you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep your account details up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.

Company directory listings are subject to review and approval. We reserve the right to reject, edit or remove any listing that does not meet our content standards or that contains false, misleading or inappropriate information.

4. Our content and intellectual property

All editorial content published on Energi Africa — including articles, analysis, newsletters, data compilations and design elements — is the intellectual property of Energi Africa and is protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission, except as follows:

You may share links to our articles on social media or by email
You may quote up to 100 words from an article provided you attribute the quote to Energi Africa with a link to the original article

Media and industry bodies wishing to syndicate content should contact editorial@africaenergynetwork.com.

5. User-submitted content

By submitting content to the Platform (including company profiles, press releases and event listings), you grant Energi Africa a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, display and distribute that content on the Platform and in our newsletter. You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that it does not infringe any third party's intellectual property or other rights.

We reserve the right to edit, refuse or remove any user-submitted content at our sole discretion, without notice.

6. Company directory

Company listings are available in two tiers: a free basic listing and a paid featured listing. Basic listings are free and are activated automatically upon account creation. Featured listings are activated upon payment of the applicable fee — payment is processed offline via invoice. We do not offer refunds on paid listings except where required by applicable law.

Press release publication is a feature available to verified featured directory members, activated manually by Energi Africa upon request. We reserve the right to decline press release activation without giving reasons.

Company listing information is publicly visible on the Platform. You are responsible for keeping your listing accurate and up to date.

By subscribing to our newsletter you consent to receive the Africa Energy Weekly by email. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email or by emailing info@africaenergynetwork.com. We do not share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

8. Prohibited uses

You may not use the Platform to:

Scrape, crawl or systematically extract content or data without written permission
Submit false, misleading or defamatory content
Impersonate another person or company
Interfere with the operation or security of the Platform
Use automated means to create accounts or submit content
Send unsolicited commercial communications to other users
Engage in any activity that violates applicable law

9. Advertising

Energi Africa carries banner advertising on the Platform. All advertising is clearly distinguished from editorial content. Advertisers have no influence over editorial decisions, coverage or tone. Energi Africa does not guarantee the accuracy of advertiser claims and is not responsible for advertiser products or services.

Sponsored content and press releases are clearly labelled as such throughout the Platform.

10. Disclaimers

The content on Energi Africa is provided for general information purposes only. It does not constitute financial, legal, investment or professional advice. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of our content, we make no representation or warranty as to its completeness, accuracy or timeliness. You should seek professional advice before making any financial or business decision based on information published on the Platform.

Company directory listings are provided by the listed companies and we make no representation as to their accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Energi Africa shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Platform shall not exceed the amount paid by you to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 100, whichever is greater.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Energi Africa is registered. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer located in the EU, you may also have rights under the laws of your country of residence.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
