Eskom
National Utility · South Africa
Eskom is South Africa's state-owned electricity utility and the largest power company in Africa, responsible for approximately 90% of the country's electricity generation and operating the national transmission and distribution grid. The utility manages a generation capacity of approximately 44,000 MW through a fleet of coal, nuclear, hydro and pumped storage power stations, and is undergoing a major structural transformation through unbundling into three separate entities covering generation, transmission (NTCSA) and distribution. Eskom serves over 16 million customers and is implementing a large-scale renewable energy integration and smart metering rollout programme. Eskom served as Host Utility and Utility CEO Forum Dinner Host at Enlit Africa 2025.
