Zambia's State-owned power utility ZESCO sponsored a school safety and career conference at the Government Complex in Lusaka on 12 June 2026, using the platform to deliver electrical safety education to more than 1,200 participants drawn from 50 secondary schools, the utility said in a statement.
The event, organised by SafetyFocus Company in partnership with the Ministry of Education, featured a presentation on electrical safety awareness by ZESCO engineer Koloto Aggrey Daka, followed by a question-and-answer session with students. Participants who answered correctly received energy-saving bulbs — a choice ZESCO said was intended to reinforce the message of efficient electricity use — alongside branded merchandise.
ZESCO said the initiative reflects its position that a durable safety culture begins with young people, and that equipping students with knowledge and practical skills supports safe electricity use in homes, schools and communities. The utility thanked SafetyFocus, the Ministry of Education and other partners for their role in the event.
